格闘技への憧れが頂点に来たころ、遂に家の近くに空手クラブができたのです。

早速、空手クラブに入会し、映画の世界とは違う日本武道、『空手』を知ることでさらに情熱が深まっていきます。
そして、一生の恩師となる日本人に出会うのです。

日本空手協会指導者、榎枝慶之助先生。

榎枝先生から学んだことはクリスの人生観の根底を大きく変えることになっていくのです。

While the other kids around Chris were absorbed in soccer and rugby, he was the only one who spent his days solely dedicated to practicing karate.

One day, I started dreaming of going to Japan someday.

"I want to experience traditional Japanese culture and martial arts."
"I want to master karate in Japan, where Enoe Sensei was born and raised."

Chris's dreams of becoming a martial artist begin to expand.

言葉も話せない、文化が全く違う異国、日本。。。

不安はもちろんある。
青い目のガキが本当に日本に受け入れられるのか。。。
勝気なクリスも不安で胸がいっぱいでした。

夢にまで見た日本での空手修行。
夢と希望を胸にボストンバッグひとつで日本の地に降り立ちます。

そして、大阪の京橋にある松濤館流派 大濱師範の道場の門を叩き、修行を始めたのです。
ここが、青い目のサムライ、クリスの武道家としての起点であり、日本での物語がここから始まります。

As a result of his tireless efforts, Chris was recognized by Master Ohama and established his own dojo as a branch of the dojo.

As he became a master and devoted himself to training students at his dojo, a new ambition fueled his dreams.

"As a martial artist, I want to further hone my spirit.
And I want to teach that spirit to as many people as possible.”

Chris has a strong desire to become independent and aims to officially register with the Japan Karate Association, which requires him to go through rigorous training and pass a promotion test.

After years of hard work, he passed the 5th Dan promotion exam and was officially registered with the Japan Karate Association.

クリスは晴れて松濤館流派の空手道場を設立します。
たくさんの練習生に技術的な指導をするだけでなく、『武道精神』の本質を惜しみなく伝え、心の鍛錬の必要性を説いたのです。

そんなある日、クリスにある疑問が生まれます。
『本当に今、指導している空手が最高峰なのか。。。』
青い目のサムライ　クリスの武道家としての本能がまた目覚めることになるのです。

There are five major styles of Japanese karate, and the Shotokan style that Chris trained in is only one of them.
The Shotokan style is characterized by its emphasis on the fundamental techniques and movements of karate, and is the standard style of modern karate.
Chris places great importance on the "martial arts spirit" and "mental training." He thought that by learning other styles and blending them in harmony with the Shotokan style, he would be able to achieve the "karate-do" he was looking for.

It's as if the harmonious fusion of the Scottish culture where Chris was born and raised and the Japanese culture he learned as a martial artist gave rise to a unique set of values that are unique to Chris.

Chris chose Shito-ryu as the style best suited to blend with Shotokan.
The Shito-ryu school, which has spread as a type of Okinawan karate, is characterized by its emphasis on "training the mind" in addition to beautiful posture and technique.

Chris immediately went to the dojo of Shito-ryu Master Omoto and Sensei Shoho to receive instruction.
He learned Shitoryu Karate with astonishing speed and achieved a third-degree black belt in just a few years.

He combined the techniques of Shotokan and Shito-ryu with "mental training" and introduced his own unique teaching method, which led his students to win many Japanese championships and his dojo became known as one of the strongest in Japan.

若き日のクリスが夢みていた、青い目のサムライに成長した『武道家　クリス』が、ここ日本に存在していることを実感します。

振り返れば、数え切れないほど日本人の優しさに触れながら、日本の文化と伝統、そして『武道精神』と『心の鍛錬』を学びました。

この頃から、クリスはお世話になった人たちへの感謝の気持ちが強くなり、その恩返しの形を模索していきます。

そして、クリスは新たな挑戦を始めます。
『武道家　クリス』はこれまで空手を通して培ったトレーニングのノウハウを活かし、体型や体質改善に悩む人達が1日でも早く自分らしさを取り戻すことができるよう、昼夜問わずトレーナーとしてサポートし続けたのです。

さらに、自宅でより効果的にトレーニングができる『日本初の5-in-1トレーニングマシン』の開発と販売を行いました。

それは、トレーニングジムに導入されている高額な5つのトレーニングマシンを、1つのマシンに集約することで狭いスペースでトレーニングジムと同様の効果と効率的なトレーニングができる画期的なマシンなのです。

Because people were drawn to Chris's personality and his compassionate, human side, word of mouth quickly spread about him.
